Restore Your Smile with Dental Crowns and Bridges
Recent advancements in dental treatment make it possible to have prosthetic teeth that flawlessly match the shade and shape of your natural teeth. Crowns are single-tooth restorations that provide support to a tooth that has suffered extensive damage and decay. They can also restore a dental implant to replace a single missing tooth. In addition to their important restorative function, crowns also have aesthetic benefits in covering cosmetic imperfections, such as discoloration or inconsistent shaping.
Bridges, also called partial dentures, are another classic restorative dentistry solution for replacing several missing teeth. Whether you need to support a weakened tooth with a crown, or replace a few missing teeth with a bridge, Dr. Daniel Whiteman uses the latest techniques and technologies to provide outstanding dental crowns and bridges at his Brookline dental practice. His state-of-the-art onsite lab can craft prosthetic teeth that blend in seamlessly with your smile. What are Dental Crowns?
Dental crowns are prosthetic teeth designed to fit over a tooth following treatment for advanced decay or trauma. When placing your crown, Dr. Whiteman will first prepare the tooth by removing any decay, infection, or damaged portions. This may involve root canal therapy. He will then reshape the tooth to accommodate the crown and take a series of digital images using CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic) technology. These images guide a sophisticated milling unit that fabricates a customized porcelain crown in the office, often while you wait - it's the ultimate in patient convenience! When the restoration is complete, Dr. Whiteman will attach it to the tooth using dental cement. Most of our patients can enjoy a crown in one day, placed in the very same appointment.
Superior Technology with a 10-year Guarantee
Dr. Whiteman is proud to use CEREC® technology at his practice to create your prosthetic teeth. This digital imaging and milling system allows him to provide restorations that match your natural teeth. Additionally, CEREC® crowns are so durable that Dr. Whiteman offers a 10-year guarantee to all patients who continue to visit his office for follow-up appointments and routine visits. This is a great patient benefit, as most crowns have a lifespan of about seven years.
What are Dental Bridges?
Traditional dental bridges are prosthetic teeth that are held in place with crowns. They may also be used to restore dental implants. Bridges supported by dental implants do not require alteration of adjacent healthy teeth to accommodate support crowns. During a one-on-one consultation, you and Dr. Whiteman can decide whether implants or adjacent dental crowns should be used to hold your custom dental bridge in place.
