Karen, our office manager, has been with us for five years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Arizona State University. She has five years of corporate experience working for two of the big five accounting firms. Her main areas of concentration were in the audit and forensic accounting divisions.
At Whiteman Dental Associates she oversees all business aspects of the practice. Her five years in the dental world affords her a deep understanding of both clinical and non-clinical issues. This enables her to assist our staff in the sometimes complex insurance issues that patients may have along with treatment plan explanation and coordination. She is our “go to person” to ensure the ultimate in patient satisfaction and service. Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
Hieu is our front office administrator. She has been with our office for over 2 years and has worked in the dental field for over 10 years. In her previous job position, she oversaw the billing and coordination of dental insurance benefits for 7 offices.
It is her responsibility to make sure that she understands patients’ needs and time requirements so that she can schedule appointments effectively and efficiently. In addition, she assures that all claims are submitted correctly and timely and follows up on any discrepancies to make it effortless for the patient. It is her goal to make sure your experience in our office is an easy and pleasant one, from pre-verifying your insurance benefits to giving you a re-care call post treatment. Hieu is from Northern Virginia and has been in Boston since 2003.
Carolyn is our Registered Dental Hygienist. She has over 23 years of clinical experience and has worked in several specialized fields of dentistry including orthodontics, pedodontics, cosmetic dentistry and public health. She was the Coordinator of the Dental Health Education Service for the City of New Bedford, which performed dental screenings and administered dental treatment to local school children. She received her A.S. from Bristol Community College, Fall River MA and recently attended the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) where she received advanced training in the treatment of TMJ disorders. She also holds a license to administer local anesthesia.
Her love of dentistry led her to a teaching position at Mount Ida College where she is currently an Adjunct Professor of Dental Hygiene. She stays current with all the newest technologies and changes in dentistry by continuously attending continuing education courses.
Carolyn lives in the historic city of New Bedford with her husband and two "children", a pug named `Buckley` and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named `Sophie`.
Amanda is our dental assistant. She has more than 6 years of experience working in direct patient care in the field of dentistry. Her experience, commitment to patient care and strong work ethic makes her a vital part of our team. In addition, she is extremely focused, organized and efficient and helps make things run smoothly on a daily basis. Her main role is to assist Dr. Whiteman chair side during all procedures. Other responsibilities include answering patients’ questions and ensuring that their dental visit is both enjoyable and educational.
In her spare time, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband, exercising, watching movies and exploring the outdoors.
